Poetry by Miriam Calleja which inspired food by CaféCompasión
hawn riħa ta’ bużbież
u x-xemx niżlet
bil-kwiet f'daqqa
u x-xemx niżlet
bil-kwiet f'daqqa
there’s a scent of wild fennel
as the sun sets – suddenly, quietly
–
għax daqqu it-tmienja
u erba’ minuti
(eżatt kif għidtli hux?)
qed tara kif kellek raġun?
Because it’s four minutes past eight
(just like you said!)
And you were right again, see?
u qed tmellisli n-nokkli
għax għoġbitek riħithom
u qagħduli sbieħ illum
u qagħduli sbieħ illum
you’re caressing my curls
because you like the way they smell
and they look good today
Served with:
- Fennel, apple and carrot coleslaw, accompanied by a lemon zest, thyme and flax seed oil dressing
- Bruschetta with basil, mint, capers and black olive tapenade
- Sundried tomatoes, pinenuts, artichoke hearts and pumpkin seeds on a bed of a tri-colore spelt pasta
